Track 6 is Out Of Hand which was the FIRST song I ever wrote and recorded... well, the first I didn't disown and scrap! At the time I could bounce off other writers, but not conceive enough lyrics on my own accord that I wasn't ashamed of. I was still forcing and thinking too much.

The penny dropped that it's obviously a billion times easier with a concrete subject to write about - something that resonates with or riles you up so much that words just fall out, and all you need to do is make sure it scans. Thing is I was rubbish at opening up... until I couldn't be anymore.

So creative scenes are one of few spaces where it's acceptable to be "different", myself included. It's mostly a wonderful thing, but also a double-edged sword because it also attracts the deluded, demanding, dramatic, and downright nasty, who either don't realise it or don't care.

At the time, our local one had a dangerous combination of extreme examples. A few nights ended up resembling Eastenders! And being the host, the mediator role was automatically dumped on me... even though I was only a kid with anxieties of my own. It got so out of hand that I hit an absolute breaking point - which lit the creative fire, and it's burned ever since! Every cloud and that.

All instruments by me, except for the glorious NATHAN PERSAD on drums, which we recorded live at the Music Complex - no click track, just a guide piano. He's an amazing multi-instrumental singer songwriter in his own right too. I then hijacked 10 minutes of an open mic at the Iron to get the crowd to do some BV's, did 6 or 7 takes, put them on top of each other and it sounded like an arena!!

I often see older stuff as akin to an embarrassing childhood photo or something, but this one's cute and there's good ideas in it. Lyrically it's a bit primitive, a few lines feel a bit forced, but hey I was "loading..." and it's stood up overall. And Nathan's drums took it to another level! A lot of people highlight this as a favourite. And it's so fun to play live (more on that soon)!

Written summer 2018. Recorded Oct-Nov 2018. Initially released Feb 2019. Remixed in 2023 for the album.

And I think it's the only song in the world with a Seinfeld solo x
